Dean, no longer able to trust his brother Sam, and deeply injured by his recent betrayal, decides that it’s safer for him to save the world from apocalypse on his own. But was it safer? Only time will tell- And, regretfully it has! Events have taken a turn for the worse. Sam has given up his body to the devil and the angels have fled at his prowess. Castiel who seems to be the only celestial being who has stayed with the humans, has become an indulgent drug user and sexual deviant. It is five years in the future; earth has become Satan’s territory, the Croatian disease has spread rampantly, turning the human race into thus-far incurable, cannibalistic zombies. Since Dean has refused to become Michael’s vessel, the world has been turned to ruins. There is little civilization left. The only hope left is in the rebellion against Lucifer which Dean has sworn to lead. His mission; kill Sam or die trying but failure is not an option. In the last five years there have been several attempts to rid the earth of Lucifer’s presence. All of them have proven unsuccessful, some even tragic. Countless have died and as a result Dean has hardened into the brooding, angry, seemingly uncaring douche bag we know and love. Camp Chitaqua has seen new comers come and go, stay and die, leave or disappear. Dean has seen it all. To say that he has made “friends” along the way, however, would be less of an accurate statement. There was a time that Dean cared about those he missioned with but the seemingly never-ending failure and the countless lives lost have desensitized the man worse than a Vietnam Vet with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Dean is still in the mist of battle and for him the war never ends, inside or out. By day Dean strategies with his tacticians, plotting and running missions revolving around making sure the area around camp is safe, taking stock of the supplies and of course ultimately bringing Sam down. His most trusted crew members in regards to tactic are Barbara Gordon and Cammy White- each of whom he’s had growing love interests. He and Barbara met over two years ago and since the two had become very close. There were rumors of the two having romantic involvement but everything was kept behind closed doors and the two had never put a label on their relationship. One night, about three months ago, the two finally consummated their affections for one another. The very next day, on a mission that’s main objective was to infiltrate Satan’s known headquarters, Dean and Barbara’s team as ambushed. Sam headed the group off, obviously aware of their plans. It became known later on that one of the members (Green) sold them out. Satan targeted Dean, knocking him unconscious and murdering ever crew member- that is every one but Barbara. Knowing about Dean’s growing love for the woman, he spared her but crippled her if only to torture Dean. Since that day, Dean’s personality has taken a hardened, cold turn. That day, he broke his own rule of leaving those who were severely injured behind, in favor of taking Barbara back to camp. For an entire month, he could not look at her. Consumed with guilt, the sense of failure and self-hatred, Deans missions became more and more reckless- but Barbara became his voice of reason- literally. She has taken the new position of communications. She is able to project the targets and movements of foes on the field and offer advice on how to approach them (but that doesn’t always mean the stubborn Dean takes said advice.) He’s taken to treating her extremely harshly in order to distance himself from her. They’ve dubbed her “Wheels” because she was given one of Bobby’s old wheelchairs. He’s even made attempt to forget about her by fooling around with other women (like Cammy who replaced her position on the field). Personality: The best way to describe this Dean's personality and the characteristic that sets him apart from his past self would probably be the word "hardened." Losing Sammy hit Dean in a very profound way. He's not only lost his brother, he's lost his best friend. It's extremely difficult for the man to trust in people these days. He is often mean and hurtful but it is all just a ploy to protect himself from ever feeling so betrayed and heart-broken again. Dean avoids becoming attached at all costs and has become a programmed with one objective in mind: to kill Sam. As tough as Dean seems to be is as broken and vulnerable on the inside. He feels an immense amount of guilt for what has happened to Sam, Barbara Gordan and indeed the fate of all of mankind. It's safe to say that deep down, the man simply despises himself. It is yet another reason to force himself not to become close with anyone- he doesn't believe he deserves it. Just because Dean hasn't extended his emotional relationships, it doesn't mean he hasn't practiced his physical relationships. Quite the contrary. During the day Dean ventures out and around camp to make sure things are taken care of. But at night, he has taken to sleeping with almost as many women as his lodge-mate Castiel. This is Dean's little way of feeling in control, wanted, loved and of course how he takes out his frustrations- anything to try and forget Barbara. In Dean's book, there is no room for failure. Life these days is literally do or die. Because of this, he is rather tightly wound and can be extremely harsh. He does not like anyone undermining his authority, no matter who they are- even his past self! He refuses to have remorse or any amount of patience for those who will delay his plans from defeating Lucifer. He does not tend to the sick or the needy but makes it a point to leave those who can not take care of themselves behind- even the children. The members of his crew are expendable. Any of them could sacrifice their lives to ensure his safety, because it is he who is destined to defeat the devil. He and no one else and he makes it a point to make sure everyone knows this. Either help or get out of his way. On late, drunken nights, Dean reveals the more humane part of himself- or rather, whatever little bit of it remains. The liquor, which serves as a release of inhibition and of course as a depressant, causes him to become more vocal about how damaged the apocalypse has made him. Appearance: Because the water in camp is rationed and often needs to be pumped, showering is a rather rare and difficult commodity to come by. Missioning in the over-run towns is dirty and dangerous. Often Dean is covered with dirt, tattered clothing and even blood (whether it be his or someone else’s). He rarely cracks a smile, has a heavily furrowed brow and scowl to match. If his hands aren't holding a gun then they are crossed over his chest or holding a bottle of liquor. He wears clothes that are appropriate for the work that he does; boots, jeans, t-shirts and jackets. Played by: Jensen Ackles | ||||||||||
